OSA Spring Quiz Night 2022

After two years of Covid, it was fantastic to hold a quiz at the school where parents can take enjoy a night of food and drink whilst taking part in a quiz alongside old and new friends. The tables looked fabulous and the event attracted over 200 people which included 5 tables of just sixth formers, a first we think!

We held an auction on a number of wonderful hampers and wares which raised over £200 for the school - thank you to the parents who bid on the items.

The night ended with a teachers and a parent's table neck and neck with a tie breaker deciding on the winner- the parents! Let’s not forget the last raffle prize being won by a sixth former which led to the group coming near the stage to claim their prize- a tub of popcorn

A special mention to Mike Thorpe, a Rotary Club member who had prepared the quiz for us for many years but who sadly passed away in 2021. A small donation is being sent to the club to go towards a charity in Mike's memory. As the quiz was held at short notice due to the uncertainty of the pandemic, we were fortunate to have a year 7 parent step in to prepare the quiz.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we hope you had a good evening and without parents like you, we wouldn't be able to raise the funds needed to support our children through donation to the school to buy various items for different departments such as textbooks, 3D printers, whiteboards, sports equipment, DT/art materials, etc.

The night was a great success due to fantastic team effort from a number of people so special thanks go to the following:

  • Alex Gilbert -Year 7 parent who wrote the quiz

  • Mr Ewins, school teacher who took on the role of quiz master

  • School caretakers who helped with setting up the tables and the cleaning up after

  • Sixth formers and school tech crew member who helped on the night

  • OSA members who organised and ran the event - a number of parents gave their time to do the shopping, organise the table arrangements, prepare and present the food and run the bar.
